Wedding Bush

A$750.00
SOLD

Wedding Bush is part of my Sandbelt series, showing at Glen Eira City Gallery from 24 July - 24 August. The Sandbelt vessels feature the flora of the Sandbelt region in south-east Narrm/Melbourne (Boonwurrung Country). I walked over 100 kilometres on a series of urban hikes, visiting areas of remnant vegetation across the region.

Wedding Bush will be shipped or available for collection in late August.

I first encountered Wedding Bush (Ricinocarpos pinifolius) flowering profusely in a heathland reserve tucked away in the suburbs — a glorious surprise.

This medium vase is coil-built in grainy dark clay. The surface is painted with multiple layers of underglaze and carved to create the botanical design. It is clear-glazed on the inside and on the plant only, leaving the background bare and matte.

Dimensions: H 21 x W 23 x D 23 cm
