Sweet Wattle
Sweet Wattle is part of my Sandbelt series, showing at Glen Eira City Gallery from 24 July - 24 August. The Sandbelt vessels feature the flora of the Sandbelt region in south-east Narrm/Melbourne (Boonwurrung Country). I walked over 100 kilometres on a series of urban hikes, visiting areas of remnant vegetation across the region.
Sweet Wattle will be shipped or available for collection in late August.
When I first saw Sweet Wattle (Acacia suaveolens) in Bay Road Heathland Sanctuary, I fell in love with its elegant open form and striking blue-green seed pods.
The medium vase is coil-built in white clay., painted with multiple layers of underglaze, and carved to create the botanical design. It is clear-glazed on the inside and on the plant only, leaving the background matte.
Dimensions: H 22 x W 21 x D 11 cm
