Darwin Woollybutt

A$300.00
SOLD

Darwin Woollybutt is part of my Red Earth series, depicting plants of Australia’s Northern Territory. I encountered these plants while walking the Larapinta and Jatbula trails.

Darwin Woollybutt (Eucalyptus miniata) is a striking eucalyptus that grows in the far north of Australia. Its clusters of lime green buds and bright orange flowers remind me of fireworks.

The small vase is coil-built in smooth red clay. The surface is painted with underglaze and carved to create the botanical design. A clear glaze is applied to the inside and to the plant only, leaving the red clay background bare.

Dimensions: H 10 x W 11 cm
