Coast Banksia
Coast Banksia is part of my Sandbelt series, showing at Glen Eira City Gallery from 24 July - 24 August. The Sandbelt vessels feature the flora of the Sandbelt region in south-east Narrm/Melbourne (Boonwurrung Country). I walked over 100 kilometres on a series of urban hikes, visiting areas of remnant vegetation across the region.
Coast Banksia will be shipped or available for collection in late August.
Coast Banksia (Banksia integrifolia) is the dominant tree species behind the beaches of the Sandbelt region. A beautiful area of remnant Banksia woodland can be found in the Seaford Foreshore Reserve.
This tall, narrow vase is coil-built in white clay. The surface is painted with multiple layers of underglaze and carved to create the botanical design. It is clear-glazed on the inside and on the plant only, leaving the background matte.
Dimensions: H 32 x W 16 x D 16 cm
