Australian Indigo

A$1,080.00

Australian Indigo is part of my Sandbelt series, showing at Glen Eira City Gallery from 24 July - 24 August. The Sandbelt vessels feature the flora of the Sandbelt region in south-east Narrm/Melbourne (Boonwurrung Country). I walked over 100 kilometres on a series of urban hikes, visiting areas of remnant vegetation across the region.

Australian Indigo will be shipped or available for collection in late August.

Australian Indigo (Indigofera australis) is an open shrub with delicate leaves and sprays of bright pink-purple flowers. It grows in eucalyptus woodlands in the Sandbelt region.

This large bowl is coil-built in white clay, painted with indigo underglaze, and carved to create the botanical design. It is clear-glazed on the inside only. The outside is unglazed, with a slight sheen to the indigo plant and a matte background.

Dimensions: H 25 x W 30 x D 30 cm
